PBS NewsHour's STEM Superstar, Rebecca Jacobson

America's premier nightly Rebecca Jacobson photo television news program, PBS NewsHour, hired a young lady named Rebecca Jacobson, with a Bachelor's degree in Feminist Film Criticism, to be their “Reporter/Producer on Science and Climate Change.” Her senior honors thesis at UNL was entitled, “Unzipping Gender: Gender Stereotypes, Identity, and Power.”

She's so scientifically naive that in January, 2013 she reported that 90% of Greenland's ice mass had thawed the previous summer.

If 90% of Greenland's ice mass had actually melted, the oceans would have risen about 18 feet. The true percentage was less than 0.01%.

Nobody else at PBS caught the error, either. Or if they did, they didn't care enough about accuracy to fix it. Thirteen years later, the article with its nonsensical claim is still on the PBS website, misleading readers, though Ms. Jacobson's byline has been removed.
