date: Mon, 23 Jul 2001 14:22:58 +0100 from: "Christine Flack" subject: Fund-raising for ICER to: This message is a repeat of Trevor's memo to you dated 9 July. So far we have not had many suggestions - a few more would be gratefully received. Thanks, Chris The University has commissioned a fund-raising consultancy in order to attract financial contributions towards the costs of ICER, the BIOMED building, and the MED building. The consultancy believes that ICER is the most immediately-promising prospect. The consultant has requested that we provide him with a 'list of contacts': influential individuals who are known to us, and who know us. These should be people who can 'open doors' (to possible funding opportunities) for us. I have met the man who will be acting on our behalf. He has a good record and appears to know how to go about this sort of activity. As an example, he raised £5M for the University of Sunderland, from scratch, in six months. I shall be grateful if you will jot down names, position, contact details, etc. of those people who are well connected and who think highly of us. These people could be from business, government/civil service (not currently 'in office'), the great-and-the-good, and so on …… Please put on your thinking caps for a few minutes. Who could possibly open doors to a million-plus for us. Please let me have names this week. Dean's Secretary, School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, Norwich NR4 7TJ, UK.
