This is also the first news I get about ENCACIA. The outcome of the EU round is good for PIK in many ways, but it shows that the evaluation really is mostly based on political considerations, not on scientific quality alone. I know of many good proposals (not all included us) that did not get funding, e.g. in the paleo arena. I am anxious to hear from you (on June 21?) about your future roles at UEA, and about the overall plans for it. I certainly hope that someone will continue to care for the specific data-oriented activities you have been known for in the past.
