The solar forcing is possible based on C14/and Be (as is some volcanic series) At 12:56 PM 12/11/02 +0000, you wrote: Keith - have you forwarded this to Simon? We could only follow the feedback if Simon/Hadley Centre are planning to run 1500 year simulations with HadCM3, and then some similar runs with HadGEM1. The committee provided the following feedback: a) the study could gain from being extended back to cover the last 1500 years - to include the warm period. Given the 4 year length of the study, this was felt to be feasible. b) when the new Hadley Centre model HadGEM1 is available, extension of the study to include results from it could be considered (as it will better represent Atlantic coupled processes). NERC will give consideration to the travel and subsistence, and consumables elements of your proposal and the outcome will be detailed in your award letter. Regards, Meric p.s. please note that you, together with one other member of the team if desired, will be expected to attend the RAPID PIs kick-off meeting on 21-22 Jan. 2003, and to give a brief presentation on your project (more details of the meeting to follow). -- Dr. Meric Srokosz, Room 254/43,Southampton Oceanography Centre (SOC) Empress Dock, Southampton, SO14 3ZH, UK Tel:+44-(0)23-80596414 (direct line); Fax: +44-(0)23-80596400 e-mail: mas@soc.soton.ac.uk or M.Srokosz@soc.soton.ac.uk [1]http://www.soc.soton.ac.uk/JRD/SAT/pers/mas.html Science Coordinator NERC Rapid Climate Change Programme [2]http://rapid.nerc.ac.uk/ -- Professor Keith Briffa, Climatic Research Unit University of East Anglia Norwich, NR4 7TJ, U.K. Phone: +44-1603-593909 Fax: +44-1603-507784 [3]http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/people/briffa/ Dr Timothy J Osborn | phone: +44 1603 592089 Senior Research Associate | fax: +44 1603 507784 Climatic Research Unit | e-mail: t.osborn@uea.ac.uk School of Environmental Sciences | web-site: University of East Anglia __________| [4]http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/~timo/ Norwich NR4 7TJ | sunclock: UK | [5]http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/~timo/sunclock.htm -- Professor Keith Briffa, Climatic Research Unit University of East Anglia Norwich, NR4 7TJ, U.K. Phone: +44-1603-593909 Fax: +44-1603-507784 [6]http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/people/briffa[7]/
