Just a few quick comments. In line 3 of the abstract, I'd personally prefer 50 years to 5 decades. Also, I'd like to comment on your reference to article 2 of the UN FCCC. What is considered 'dangerous' anthropogenic interference with the global climate will ultimately be a political decision. That is, a scientific paper shouldn't be second-guessing what it should be or what level of stabilisation would be required to prevent it. What you could say is that this work provides an important contribution to the debate around defining 'dangerous' climate change under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Article 2 UNFCCC......which aims ' to achieve stabilisation of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system..etc This point is also relevenat in the final para of the paper. many thanks and the best of luck Penny >>> Arnell 04/11/99 10:49:44 >>> Dear colleague, Please find attached the "final" version of the Nature Commentary. I will submit it tomorrow, with a covering letter which explains why this is extremely interesting stuff. I will also enclose a copy of the COP5 brochure, and say that our paper is a significant development of that (Nature are already aware of the brochure). If there are any really important comments, please get back to me today.
